New Mexico Angels

Why Join NMA?

Are you an accredited, experienced, and sophisticated investor looking for private investment opportunities in New Mexico?

If you have made private investments in the past, you know that sourcing deals, meeting with management, due diligence, issuing term sheets and getting other investors in the deal to prepare for the next round(s), finding the right VC’s and/or corporate investors is not easy and very time consuming. If you have not made private investments in the past, take our word for it – it is difficult and time consuming to get all of the information that you would like to make an informed decision.

We pre-screen companies for you (we have two separate Screening Committees), set the location, venue and time for them to present a PowerPoint presentation to you, organize a post-presentation meeting with the Presenting Company if you have an interest in considering an investment and conducting further due diligence. In addition, we will track the companies in which our Members invest. If desired, we will also form an LLC as the investment vehicle, in order to get around individual minimums, to decrease the actual number of investors, etc.

So, joining New Mexico Angels, Inc. can save you time and money, as well as give you the opportunity to network with people with interesting backgrounds and experiences. It also gives you much more negotiating authority, as there is more money on the table than your own.

Currently, there is a one-time $100 application fee to join, and a $600 per year fee. We organize approximately 4-5 Angel meetings per year over dinner, each one having 2 or 3 young companies presenting to us. Each presentation generally has one evening in Albuquerque and one evening in Santa Fe, and the meetings are arranged over dinner (networking prior to dinner) at a nice and convenient setting. In addition to the membership fee, there is a $300 fee to cover all of the events, including the dinners. We are also planning this year to introduce approximately 4 similar type meetings over breakfast; the purpose of thesemeetings is to introduce our members to companies in a much earlier stage than those at the dinner meetings, or to companies that are requesting far less money and/or perhaps far more active member participation (very early stage companies).

New Mexico Angels, Inc. is one organization with two working groups, one in Albuquerque and one in Santa Fe. Meetings will generally be held on consecutive days, so that if there is a schedule conflict or travel, then one can attend the same meeting in the other city.

We strongly encourage members to get involved in deal sourcing, screening, helping the companies in their presentations and due diligence, among other activities. We expect our members to help in committee participation as they are able.

If you would like to join NMA, please contact John Chavez our President. He will get an application to you to fill out and send in. You will be notified of the Board’s decision within two weeks. It’s really that simple.
